Edwin S. Skribiski,
Sr. of 170 River Road passed away on Sunday afternoon (3/7/21) at home after a
period of failing health. He was born in Montague, MA on August 31, 1937, the
son of Stanley and Anna (Galenski) Skribiski. He was educated in Sunderland schools
and graduated from Smith Vocational High School in June of 1954.
Ed spent most of his career working for the John E. Cain Company (Oxford
Pickle) in South Deerfield, MA working his way up to become the Distribution
Warehouse Manager. He then went to work for the Town of Sunderland Highway
Department where he finally retired in 2016.
He was predeceased by his wife of 52 years Joan (Bandalevich) Skribiski who
passed in 2009. They were married in 1957 in the St. James Church in South
Deerfield, MA by the Rev. Leonard Perreault. All of their life together was
spent in Sunderland.
Ed enjoyed putting his extensive mechanical and carpentry skills to good use,
was an avid gardener and particularly liked making and sharing his famous
homemade pickles. He was a devoted athletic fan at Frontier Regional, UMass
Amherst, Westfield State, and Ole Miss cheering for his children and
grandchildren.
He is survived by 4 children: Edwin Skribiski Jr. and his wife Elaine, David
Skribiski and his wife Karen, Cheryl Elko and her husband John, and John
Skribiski and his wife Lauri; ten grandchildren: Craig and Stephen Skribiski,
Christa Decker, Ryan and Jaime Vielmetti, Catie and Tim Elko, Kevin, Keith and
Rachel Skribiski; 5 great grandchildren; sisters Nancy Pickunka, Beverly Hegedus
and her husband John, Marcy Hosley and her husband Gary; a brother Robert
Skribiski and his wife Barbara; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be at the Wrisley Funeral Home on Friday 3/12 from 5-7 PM.
Due to COVID-19, the funeral services will be private and by invitation only.
Burial will be in the St. Stanislaus Cemetery in the spring and a celebration
of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made
in his name to the Cooley Dickinson VNA & Hospice. Expression of sympathy
