Jan Joseph Adamski

Funeral services will be Thursday, June 7, 2018 at 9:15am from the Wrisley Funeral Home followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30am in Holy Family Church, South Deerfield, celebrated by Father Jonathan Reardon. Burial to follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday from 5-7pm at the funeral home.

Hatfield, MA – Jan Joseph Adamski, 64, of Depot Road, Hatfield, died Sunday June 3, 2018 at home after a short battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family.   He was born in Greenfield, April 2, 1954, the son of Joseph and Antonette (Rup) Adamski.

 

He was educated in local schools and graduated from Frontier Regional High School in 1972. He was later married to Colleen Cygan on August 3, 1972 in Holy Family Church in South Deerfield.

 

Jan was a lineman for Northeast Utilities for 30 years until his retirement in 2010. He continued as a lineman contractor, part-time, until a few months before his death. He proudly served the Town of Hatfield as a Selectman for two 3-year terms. He enjoyed farming, fishing, woodworking, landscaping and spending time with his granddaughters, who affectionately called him Papa. He was a member of the Elks #997, the Polish Club and IBEW Local 455 C42 Union.

 

Besides his wife of 43 years, Colleen (Cygan) Adamski, he leaves two sons, Nikolas Adamski and his wife Melissa of Leyden and Jeffrey Adamski of Springfield, VT; his two loving granddaughters, Kaylee and Lilly; his two sisters, Joanne Glaszcz of Ayer and Charlene McCue and her husband Thomas of Southwick; his brother Robert and his wife Susan of Phoenix, AZ and his sister-in-law Ellen of Ohio and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother Eugene Adamski.

He will be greatly missed by his Springer Spaniels, Leya and Suzee.
